Talk about a flurry of completed writs! I think we had a race going on at one point with Ebou, Uschia, Algereb, and myself. Although, I think Algereb was cheating as he was dancing around nekkid near my work station... trying to distract me!
This is what I got from the Tradeskill writs. They vary depending on your Tradeskill level. I'll have to do a wee bit more research as I progress in TS level.
Currently, I am a level 51 Carpenter.
Some of this is going to be a repeat of what Saine and the others have mentioned. I just wanna slap my 2 cents on here ;D
When you enter any Tradeskill Zone, there will be 2 NPCs that give you writs: The Rush Order NPC and the Work Order NPC. In Qeynos Tradeskill zones, the Rush Order NPC is found behind the main counter - right across from the Broker. The Work Order NPC is just to the right of the Rush Order NPC - standing right in front of a work table. Both NPC's have their title just below their names, which indicates Rush or Work Order.
Rush Orders versus Work OrdersThere are a few differences between a Rush Order and a Work Order. The major difference is that the Rush Order has a time limit whereas the Work Order gives you unlimited time to complete the task. Other differences include: increased status points and additional money for Rush Orders. Work Orders provide less status points and I "believe" you only break even on the money - no extra funds.
Rush OrdersAs I said before, the writs vary depending on your Tradeskill level. When I spoke to the Rush Order NPC, I was a level 51 (T6) Carpenter and was faced with 4 options:
1. Tier 6 Rush Order
2. Talented Tier 5 Rush Order
3. Difficult Tier 5 Rush Order
4. I don't wanna do an order
As a reminder, Rush Orders are on a time limit. If I chose any of the top 3 options, I would have
8 minutes to create 6 items (or so it was for me).
Now, I believe I every crafter is offered writs of their appropriate tier AND one tier lower. Thus, I was offered to make T5 (lower) and T6 (current) items.
What Do the Options Mean?1. Tier 6 Rush Order = This has an 8 minute timer and the NPC asks you to make 6 of the SAME item - all pristine. For example, I was asked to make 6 Rujarkian Fire Pits in 8 minutes. After I successfully completed the 6 items, I was rewarded 11 gold and 5400+ status points.
2. Talented Tier 5 Rush Order = This means that I have 8 minutes to make a total of 6 pristine items, however, those items are VARIED. For example, I had to make 2 Standard Teak Chairs, 2 Teak Beds, and 2 Fulginate Chandaliers (total of 6 items). I was rewarded 4200+ status, and 1 gold and some change after making each SET.
3. Difficult Tier 5 Rush Order = I never tried this one. I believe you have 8 minutes to make a total of 6 pristine items, all of which are different from one another. No sets.
4. Don't wanna do it = well, that declines the writ offer
Note: Work Order Writ options are IDENTICAL to the Rush Order Writ options, with the exception of unlimited time, less status points, and you have to create more than 6 items. Typically 10-14 items total.
Key NotesIn my examples, I got more status points for doing the T6 Rush Order writ versus the Talented T5 Rush Order writ. Typically, the "Talented" writ gives you more Status Points, BUT it totally depends on your Tradeskill level. Since I was just level 51, the T6 recipes were white to me, where as my T5 recipes were green and blue (less difficult). If I was level 55+, the Talented Writs would most likely change to "Talented T6 Writ," of which I would get more status points versus doing the standard "Tier 6 Rush Order."
On any account, you can accept any of the 3 options, and it will give you a pop-up box summary of the total Status Points gained as well as faction favor. At that time, you can choose to "accept" or "decline." So, simply compare the 3 options to see which gives you the most points.
After accepting any writ, you'll be asked to pick up your official order from the Work Table. This is located (Qeynos) right in front of the Work Order NPC.
Prior to accepting any TS writ, I would highly recommend that you've purchased all your fuels and have an ample supply of raws before hand.
Well, that's what I learned last night. I need to do some more research. Comments welcome! I know that Ebou had slightly different things happening than me.
