Last night with my fae Nectar I was working on her armoring level. After making an item pristine and getting the bonus exp, I decided to see if you actually get more exp for pristine vs crude. Since Nectar is a low level, seeing the exp is really easy. So, I made an item "crude" (level 1) and got 1% exp. Then I made the same item "pristine" and got 5-6% exp. Soooo, pristines doooo make a difference at least it did with my level 20 armorer!

the question is if you make the pristine item again to you still get the same 5-6% xp or just 2-3% like my sage. I can make a new spell (regular) and make it AppIV as opposed to APPI and get 5-6% xp for making a new spell getting the bonus xp. However if I make it again (as in a writ) I only get 2-3% xp.

If you make a certain item for the first time ever as a pristine, you get the bonus. So with my example, I got more than 5-6% for the first pristine. It was more like 10-12%. (Keep in mind, I'm a really low level and everything is higher than an advanced crafter).
After that, I made another pristine, and got 5-6% for the item. Basically, "half" of the bonus exp. I made another pristine of the same item and got 5-6% every time. That percentage does go DOWN after I level because now it's not as challenging and stuff.
When I made that item less than pristine, I got less than 5-6% every time. The percent was roughly 1 - 3%

That's why I have a hard time doing TS writs as I only get 2-3% xp after I make the first spell (and the reg writs have you make 2-6 progressively of the same spell) and I use lots of raws. IMO doing TS writs for me almost isn't worth it. I can sell a spell for 92 silver and some copper almost the same reward for writs which are around a gold and some silver(i think). As a sage there are so many spells in each new book that I can usually level making one spell each by getting the bonus xp by making APP IV. Just my opinion

Yes, you do get more xp for making pristine. However, in a lot of cases it is faster to make 5 crude items to get the 5% xp, than it is to make the 1 pristine item. Now that they have changed crafting again, it wouldn't be much of a deal. But trust me, on an armorer before the last revamp you did NOT want to make 100 bars, then 100 studs pristine to make your armor. (Candu feels my pain here I know hehe)
It was SOOOOOOO much faster to make the bars crude, then the studs crude, then make your pristine armor. You got the xp about 3 times faster and the end product still sold for the same amount of money.
