I am still trying to get my "Crafting Legs" after the long break, so, I thought I would work on my Ogre Sage for a bit to get back into the swing of things. Wow... was I shocked at the prices for raw materials. Then I started wondering. Is it just me or has there been a major esculation in the prices of raw materials? (I am not talking Rares, but the normal stuff). For example, it looks like most T5 stuff, ashen root, teak, bloodstone, etc are listed for approx 40s each. That calculates out to 2.2 Plat for a 50 pack (plus 20% for a total cost 2.64 plat) That seems pretty expensive to me. OR is my memory just getting fuzzy? Boy, this is really going to limit a lazy crafter, like myself, who would rather buy supplies than mine 'em

While I dont craft at all, but I still work on keeping my gathering skills up to par. I would rather find my own rares and give them to a crafter then paying for the final product.
That being said, I am happy to drop some stacks of items in the guild bank for someone who will use them, I only normally delete them otherwise, If you anyone can use stuff let me know what items I should keep around and I will make sure to drop it in the bank for you.

Actually, prices are going to get higher once the new update comes into play. They are getting rid of sub-combines. Basically, crafters would only need raw materials to make the things they need. It'll be craaaaazy

Getting rid of sub-combines, you say... That's that's a two edge sword (or cup cake). Sub combines are a pain but they also generate Crafting XP. Like with my sage. At 30 I made 100 Inks and 100 quills and 100 papers. That got me to about 33 if I remember right, then turning those into 100 spells (one of each spell to get the extra 1st pristine XP) got me to 40.

lol is THAT why you're leveling your tradeskills amoa? Yeah, the recipes are going to be something like.... 6 roots + 5 metal clusters + 2 fuels = boots instead of: 1 iron cluster + temper + fuel = 1 iron bar + temper + fuel = 1 iron strut (sub-combine) 1 iron strut + another subcombine + fuel = boots Or that's how I understand it at least

Yep the prices of raws are out of control. People are complaining about it like crazy on the SoE forums. Most say it's because the majority of people are harvesting in the higher tiered zones, so the lower tiers end up being in more demand, therefore people jack up the prices.
Removing the sub combines has been really nice in a way. There's nothing worse than doing 15 or so combines just for one peice of armor, it's much nicer just clicking it once..however, it seems to take a ridiculous amount of raws now. They didn't just take the number of raws it would have taken and made it into a recipie, they made a completely different set of materials that take even more raws. Like Shylah said, once this new crafting goes to all tiers, it's gonna be even worse. I'm glad I harvest my own materials!

I have been taking advantage of the high prices since I started playing again. Leiha and I paid for our horses mainly from harvesting. The Feerrott/EQ tier sells really well... but when you move to sinking sands, all the ores sell really really cheap, like fof copper. It is all mixed up! lol.

supply and demand The majority of crafters are T4 and T5. I don't think there are a whole lot in the T6 and T7 levels. Tairise for example, of our 88 total members including alts, only two people are T6

Eh? I count at least three T6'ers off the top of my head. Terwin, Erena (or Fonia, whichever one's a Provi) and Niteowl. I'm pretty sure there're more. You think the prices for raws are bad, check out the prices for food raws. 2g for Cloves and Pears for T6?? And 50s for corianders too. It's enough to make a poor provi like me cry.

Woops, I just looked at the level 60+ players, not the level 50+. There be a handful of 50+ crafters... i think. Cripes.. Do I have it all confused ?? My mistake! ;D

I believe you, like Rykshi, are stuck with outfitter. We do have a third option, weaponsmith, though. I was going to go armorer, but I have been scared off, so it looks like weaponsmith for me!
