Just to make sure on sages... they make spells for Mages, Priests, and Fighters, right?
Can they make any inks at all or are they heavily dependant on Alchemists?

I believe sages make spell scrolls for priests and mages, while alchemists make essences for fighters.... I am not 100% sure, though.

Okey dokey, here's the answer you've been waiting for... Sages make spells and upgrades for Mage and Priest classes only. Rykshi is correct in that Alchemists make spells and upgrades for Fighter classes. All of the scholar types (Sage, Alchemist, Jeweller) can make the ink component that's central for any spell upgrades, with the exception that Sages and Jewellers have to get really lucky and find Advanced Apothecary scrolls to make the rare inks needed for Adept 3 level spells. Additionally, Sages and Jewellers still have to find the Advanced scrolls particular to the level needed to make an Adept 3 spell. I started levelling Bullwei again and I'm busy stockpiling sub-components for a push to lvl 50. With luck, I can get him to 50 in a week or so. (This means that Erena can have Adept 3 Warlock spells ). As the fuel components are getting really expensive, Bullwei may have to take a break and save up some significant coinage for the 50-60 push. I still have a few more Tradeskill potions left, so I'm hoping that I can get a big bang for the time spent on levelling. Hope this answers some questions. Slagg/Bullwei

You may want to do the workshop tasks to help with the coin. Make your first spell pristines to get the bonus xp from them, then do workshop tasks. They are tedious and boring as heck, but the coin return on them is ok, especially if you gather your own materials. I did this a lot to level up my armorer. (the workshop task gives more coin than the tradeskill writs)

Also, just for the sake of completeness, jewelers make the runes to upgrade scout spells....

Thanks all So essentially, a sage can create all mage and priest spells without an alchemist as long as they have the books right? The workshop tasks are from the "innkeeper" like person when you first zone right? It's not the little fella that gives you quests? I know that there are 2 people in there that give you something At level 43 with Shylah, my fuels cost 15+ silver each It kills me! So, does anyone have a rough idea who makes more money.. Sage, Jeweler, or Alchemist?

The workshop tasks are given by the guy who stands across from the broker. The ones that will make you the money are the ones you get in your class specific tradeskill instance. If you go to the general one, you will get the gather tasks.
As far as who makes more money..I would think Jewelers, but I could be wrong. The reason I say this is that there seems to be a huge shortage of them for one lol I always had problems finding ones to upgrade my spells...and also, the imbued jewelery they make is really nice for the most part...so scout spells and decent jewelery..plus paladium torques lol
Sages seem to complain a lot about their class, so you may not want to go that way..and I know zip about alchemists

Wow, I guess I'm lucky with Terwin. His provisioning fuel costs are only 8s a piece for T6, they were 5 or so silver for T5. And I thought that was pretty bad...
Alchemists can make a pretty nice chunk of money, but it's pretty variable. The potions are nice for stat boosting but not many people actually use em. So they sit in the vault til someone needs to restock.
Sages can only make spells, so really don't get too much profit. No one really buys App IVs anymore so you're only actually making money when you get a nice Adept III commission. Otherwise not so much.
I've never actually played a Jewler (though I'm thinking about making Mirren either that or a Woodworker), so I don't know how much they make. But I'll agree with Saine on this one, they probably make the most out of the 3 scholor classes with their jewelry.

Alkanos, your T5 fuel is only 8 silver? Geesh.. I all mine are 15s each. So, I need to buy fuel for my potions (oil, wash, resin, temper), then fuels for the woodworking, tailoring, and forge stations. Haha, I don't know if I break even at times Wow Nite! Congrats How much do those spirit steeds run?

Niteowl, Instead of dumping a bunch of plat on a horse, why not consider doing the Carpet Quests in DOF? You can get some money in the process and have a device that grants 40% increase in speed for free. Just my 2cp as a dumb ogre...

The spirit steed is 10p from the Priest vendor. If you've done enough writs you don't have to wait on level 30 guild. Can also get the carpet from the mage tower now. The Steed and carpet are 48% Slagg, I have the 40% horse now. Lots of carpets around now, just want something different. Don't have anything else to spend it on . NiteOwl
