I know I started this thread in our old forums, but I thought it was an interesting subject. Since we're getting more members into the guild, I thought I'd bring it up again ------------ Shylah means strength and loyal to God. Kawaii (my new froggie alt) pronounced "Ka-wye-ee" means "super cute" in Japanese. Of course.. i took the liberty to spell it the way I liked.. which is basically Hawaii but with a "K" .. haha. Maybe Kawaii will visit the beaches of Hawaii one day! Karis is just a name I made up on the fly

What language / dialect does "Shylah" come from? Just curious. "Kaeros" was just made up on the spot after staring at my character create screen sometime back in January. My first EQ character ever, thankfully he's stayed my favorite and I now know that I definitely chose the right class for me. I tend to take my characters' names WAY more seriously than merited, often spending an hour or more sitting there agonizing over the name when I could be taking the boat off Newbie Island. With some games I'm a bit more liberal - I have a monk in Guild Wars named Grandmaster Flash - but with the longevity of EQ characters, I feel like I need to do something I'll really like and will continue to enjoy for a long time. "Darjani" is a real-world name of some sort; I wanted something exotic with a kind of "Persian" sound. Makes an odd coupling with "Kaeros" given that "Kae" has vague Celtic associations while "ros" is what, Greek? But hey, it's different, and different is good. K.

Believe it or not, Shylah is celtic too. Like you, I find names really important and I'll take FOREVER trying to think up the 'perfect' name. Even though some are not really perfect, I still like the names I end up choosing.

Hehe yeah June, when I first met you I thought "wow cool name!" and then later thought "hm, if you added a U on the end it would be a city in Alaska." And then I saw your profile on the Allies site... AHA!! (duhhh) I've actually been there, to Juneau. My uncle's family used to live up on the island of Sitka, and we went up to Alaska to visit them the summer before I started college. I loved it up there, sooo beautiful. Saw some bald eagles, caught some ridiculously large salmon... shot a few flounders in the head... (Yes, seriously!) K.

Haha My family and I were stationed there when I was a kid. I loved Alaska! It's beautiful and, like Kaeros said, the fishing is awesome too. The fish are HUGE! We use to go fishing for cod, salmon, flounder/halibut, and we use to go clamming all the time. Awesome, awesome place! I'd love to move there. I had no idea that Sitka was an Alaskan name. There's a street here called Sitka and it always stuck out to me.

ROFL. I'm not known for my originality. It only rarely shines thru I got tired of trying names and come back with already taken. So on all my alts except for Katlee I would browse thru the game names, find one of the long ones and cut it short lol. Works for me! ;D

Bleh posted before I was done It is a beautiful place. But spendy or time consuming trying to get out of here. Ferries are too slow...use up several days just coming and going. Flying out of here is outrageous! It's cheaper to fly out of Anchorage to Seattle then it is Juneau and it's twice the distance. Go figure. But like you said, the fishing, hiking etc is great. I love it here but do miss living down south and having the ability to hop in the car and go somewhere for the weekend.
