I'm on a writing binge here ......... AND now ------
Alfreya, Gimbali, and Kendo ------ step up and be counted ;D

Elinea was crouched in one corner of her cell. Knees to her chin, both hands tied in front of her, she had wrapped them around her knees for comfort. There was very little light, just enough to see the occasional large rat or two that ventured close.
She had had very little sleep in two days. She was told that her lack of sleep would 'awaken new channels of power'. Her only recourse to the 'training' was to refuse to eat. However, her captors had found a way around this. They had been force feeding her.
Elinea closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and waited for the inevitable return of her trainers. She knew they would come. Refreshed and strengthened, they always had the advantage. They only thing she never knew for sure was who it would be that came. Zocien's speciality was mental, she was bad enough with her illusions and torments. But Hetae........Elinea shuttered. She hoped beyond hope it wouldn't be him that came this time.
His life taps were the most painful thing she had ever experienced, and she knew if he came often, her resistance would crack. He would eventually win. Her only hope was to somehow find a way to escape. Eyes closed and asking for help from uncaring and vengeful gods, Elinea tried to put her mind back in Felwithe.
A rustle of cloth and a cold windblew suddenly through her cell. The cold wind; it was Hetae.
"Elinea!"
Her eyes closed tighter and she concentrated hard to not hear him.
A horrible, nauseous pain hit her.
"Elinea open your eyes. Now! I am very, very tired of this childish behavior of yours."
There was an ominous silence. Hetae grabbed Elinea by her tied hands and jerked her up to her feet.
Her eyes were still closed as he looked at her and spoke, "You either eat now or I'll bring the others in and we will hold you down and force you to eat. Is that what you would like? Or would you like to finally come to your better senses and cooperate?"
She opened her eyes and looked at him, "I'll never eat."
"Then you've forced my hand, Elinea. I've been kind and have taken this assignment as his Lorship wished, but he'll have to understand you are not following instructions."
"Intructions to do what, Hetae? To kill without feeling or remorse of any kind? To enjoy and revel in the pain and suffering that I can inflict?"
"Yes."
"I'm a Koada'Dal, I'll never think that way. I'll die first."
"Is this something your father taught you? Elinea, your father is dead, your entire family is gone."
She raised her hands to hit him, but he caught them and slapped her.
"That was very unwise, Elinea."
Hetae threw her to the ground and up against one wall. A whispered spell, and the next thing Elinea knew, she was in terrible pain.
"That is for insubordnation and disobedience."
She looked up at him from the floor, "You don't know if my family's dead or not. You have no way of knowing."
"True, not your family persay, but I do know this......", he came over and bent down, "Felwithe was taken over by a combined army of Orcs and Teir'Dal. We finally conquered Felwithe, Elinea.
And your family, along with your people........, who's to say?"
She looked at him in silence and disbelief, "How do you know this?"
"You've been out of touch, so to speak, since your capture. It's common knowledge to everyone now."
Hetae stood back up and looked down at his student,
"I highly suggest you eat something and rest. You'll need it. If I were you, I might think about leaving some food for the rats, though. Your hunger strike and lack of eating have gotten the rats rather used to having more food to eat. They never had a lot of food in here, until you came. I would imagine they're somewhat used to the food now. They're not likely to take kindly to a sudden decrease.
And they are rather large rats...... They will continue to want the same amount of food regardless of where it comes from", he paused, "dead or living sources."
A grim smile crossed his face and a dark, hollow laugh, "I'll be back, Elinea. We'll continue our training lessons at that time."
He bowed and left her alone in the dark once more.

Three days had passed. The Overlord had agreed to wait three days before the next report, but he was growing impatient. It was now almost noon and he had no news yet.
A familiar voice came from the dark abruptly, "My Lord."
"Yes? I hope it's good news this time."
"It is my Lord."
"Excellent."
"The training has progressed well since our last conversation.
It is estimated another two, at the most three days, and our students will be well enough trained to be of use to his Lordship.
There is still some feeble resistance, but that should not be a problem."
"Very good. I am looking forward to meeting my new, trained proteges."

The party from Qeynos was making it's way carefully through The Graveyard into Freeport.
Three members, a lovely high elf, a dwarf, and a barbarian, were riding close together apart some from the other members of their party.
"Gim, what reason did you give Yiz for taking her to Freeport? I'm just curious."
The strong, stout dwarf looked over at his high elf friend, "I told her the same thing I told you when I took you to Freeport for the first time, Alfreya."
There was a very brief, thoughtful silence, "Oh no. Oh Gimbali, you didn't! That story about your 'collection'?"
"Aye. I like that story."
"Oh Gim......."
"Kendo thought it was a good reason."
"Oh Ken, no. It's such a terrible story."
The big barbarian looked over at the young high elf, "Alf, it's not such a bad story. We needed a reason, Gim came up with one, I approved it. I'm in charge of this little training sesson for her and........"
"Yes I know. And Flaena and I are ONLY in charge of keeping you, Gim, and the others ........ ALIVE."
There was silence from Kendo, and then a shy smile started to creep into his face, "Point taken and noted, Alf."
"But you know, you don't really have to 'worry' about me."
"Why is that, Kendo?"
He looked over at her, "Because I can't die."
Alfreya looked over and stared in shocked silence for a few seconds before she could speak,
"Oh I see. Well then that's very good to know, I won't worry about keeping you alive then. More chances to keep an eye open for everyone else. I'll be sure and tell Flaena, too."
Kendo suddenly realized his little joke was being taken too seriously, "Well, um, I didn't exactly mean it that way, Alf."
Alfreya's smile came and he breathed a sigh of relief, "I know Kendo, I just had to scare you a little," she started to laugh.
She was silent for a few minutes and then spoke, "But I have a serious question for you, Gim."
"Aye?"
"Yizlanu is a warlock. You know the old saying about making wizards and warlocks mad don't you?"
"What saying?"
" 'Don't' ".
The rest of the trip through The Graveyard was traveled in silence.
