I would really like to see some type of FAQ concerning looting in group situations to provide suggestions on how it is best done and how to avoid any issues. I have also noticed (albiet rarely) that some people do not know all the abbreviations we use (eg ffa) when looting.
This mainly applies to non-trade items but may apply to tradeable items as well.
Things I would include are: 1. Need before greed 2. Allowing multiple need roles within a single instance for a particular character at the group leaders discretion 3. Wait for free for all call before selecting any action if one of the items is non-trade. If you cannot make a quick decision on whether you need the item (looting must usually be completed in 1 min), then let the group know that you need a little more time so everyone can initially hit decline until you are ready. Of course if you are not interested in any of the items you can always hit decline at any time (I usually do this with low level loot). 4. If a tradeable item is need then speak up so that it can be traded to you (at the group leaders discretion) after everyone has hit accept.
These are just my opinions/suggestions hence request for FAQ to clarify how best to do it as a guild.

Good post NB. When I roll on the Baash-mobile i try to let everyone know that we loot FFA (Free for All) on all items that are not NO_trade. Keeping in mind that there is no real "Group leaders discretion" in regard to any group looting methods (we are all bound by the well defined and just Tairise rules here), anyone needing (not wanting as in for alt or to play with) the item can random on it, and if it's more than one person, they will both random on it, or decide between themselves who gets it.
You bring up an awesome point about no_trade items - ppl need to keep the window open to decide if they want the object - don't just hit decline thinking someone needs it. Once the Group leader figures out if it's a need or not, then they will make the call - either gratz to someone, or ffa for sacrifice. I can't tell you how many times I see folks hitting decline before a call, the loot ends up ffa, and those ppl miss out on good points towards their miracles/blessings.
I would add:
5. FFA - Free for All 6. Sac - Sacrifice to your Deity

You might consider a guideline for Transmuters, as well, perhaps along the lines of Deity Sacrifice.

Just an add on here...if I'm in an instance and a Legendary or Fabled drop is rolled FFA/greed and I win it, I won't roll for another FFA/greed again until the rest of the group wins something. I just think it takes alot of the fun out of it if the same person wins multiple Legendary/Fabled in the same run, and others walk away with nothing. I don't see this much with Tairise groups anymore but I hold the same for pick-ups. Don't want folks to think I'm a loot-*expletive*, and it shows that those wearing a Tairise tag are fair and honorable. Not suggesting this be mandatory, just throwing my own philosophy out there for people to consider. My $.02

I ditto what Azjin said, I think that's the most fair way to do that.

The best method I have found when it comes to loot is. 1. Kev/Fur Group/Raid Leader 2. Set All Loot Leader only J/king I am a believer in NBG and then random 500 for all else. But I must say I dislike the problems in the random program where it appears the second and sixth person gain the most loot so I think if it is a NBG that who wins and how often should be addressed. I think it's fair to say that "If you win a random you will not be allowed to roll on the next XX number of items" This is so everyone has a fair chance of winning something.

To go a little further on what fur has said, I like how this was handled in a previous guild. If you win a roll then you don't get to roll until everyone else in your class (scout, fighter, priest, mage) has won something. Of course that wouldn't apply to class specific drops. For example, you have a dirge and a trouby in a group or raid, and I win something as a dirge then then next bard drop goes automatically to the trouby, unless is dirge only. That would put me out of any bard/scout drops unless it's dirge specific or noone wants it. I hope that makes sense.
