Well, not totally. I was leveling my Sage yesterday from 26 to 30 and I noticed I hadn't gotten any scribing skill ups in ages -- it was "stuck" at 106. When I dinged 30 it went up 1 point, to 107. My cap should be 145 right now. Any suggestions? Am I doing items too hard to level my skill? I'm doing evens and blue items.

Personally, and I have no idea if I do it right, the more times I cast my spells/skills, the faster my skill points increase... even if I don't get a pristine, I just go punch drunk on the spells to get my points up, then I go back to making pristine.

It's possible that your tradeskill abilities have "greyed" out, which means that they don't give skill-ups anymore. Now that you're 30, you should have a whole new level of either Durability buffs or Progress buffs (can't remember which), which should help you get more skillups. SO you might want to change some over.

well I would hope, the skills I got at 20 wouldn't be greyed out by 25 But I'll try my new ones and hopefully see a skill-up spike

hehe, just checking since I know a bunch of people don't realize they get new skills at 20, and keep using the ones they start out with. Just checking. ;D

You have to use current tier tradeskill arts to go up in skill levels.

hehe, just checking since I know a bunch of people don't realize they get new skills at 20, and keep using the ones they start out with. Just checking. ;D That might explain my problem, my Alchy and Jeweler have had no problem maintaining their skills, but my armorer has been having a terrible time with it. I think the problem is that the progress buffs I got at 20 I didn't like as much as the original progress buffs so I think I left some of them in there. I will make sure to use the new (lesser) progress buffs for a while to get my skill up.

Here is the trick to crafting.:
Always use the current tier TS arts, and the previous tier's too. Use six icons on your hotbar, group them by tier, then put the level 1 TS arts on the end of the bar, to use for countering events, when you have no power.
Here is what the TS arts do:
The Tier 1 arts give you progress but cost durability. The tier 2 arts give you durability, but cost you progress. The arts get better as you go up in tier, but their function switches between tiers. So at Tier 3, you are using progress buffs.
Only one art per tier uses power, so use that one sparingly. Perhaps only as a counter.
Always use your buffs every round of active crafting, even if you don't need to counter an event. You get the buff effects, and sometimes get criticals.
If power is a problem, get butt naked, and drink your long lasting, current adventure level, drink, +1 tier. For instance, if you are adventure level 11+, then use the level 20 drink. It's the only crafted item, that you can use in game, that is above your current level (adventure).
You can also use crafted totems for power regen, if it gets bad enough. Yes, you can turn off your illusion, it's a option on your Persona window. Unfortunately, you are restricted to using your current adventure level tier totems, unlike Food and Drink. So for level 19 adventurers, your stuck using the level 10 totems, just like handcrafted armor and weapons. You can use totems in inventory, they do not have to be equipped.
There ya go, you have gotten advice from an ex-crafter. I don't like the time it takes, but I think I've learned the game mechanics, when I had the time available to do it.

Amylia, I don't know if Crafting is great or the bane of this game for me. On one hand it is usefull and much easier to do than when I left the game back towards the beginning. On the other hand I feel like I *have* to get my tiers up to make stuff usefull for my chars, so it is a bane and a boon for me.

I get a kick out of keeping my crafting level higher than my adventure level. I've been doing that with Brandl, but I suspect I'm going to start leveling him again soon. Of course, as a carpenter, he doesn't really make much that is level-specific.
I wonder if nekkid crafting would help with transmuting recipes? They're the only ones where I have problems running out of power. Maybe I'll give that a try with Fasci.

Getting naked will usually lower your overall power pool. Regular crafting arts use a percentage of your power pool when you cast those buffs. If Transmuting works the same way, then it should help.
